Words Are Cheap, But Lives Are Costly.

witnessing

The great evangelist D.L. Moody was once confronted by a woman who said she didn’t like his method of evangelism.  D. L. Moody said, “I don’t particularly like my method either.  What’s yours?”

The woman said, “I don’t have one.”

To which D.L. Moody replied, “Then I like mine better!”

There are many methods for sharing the faith! As someone has said, sharing your faith is like prayer:  there’s probably only one wrong way to do it, and that’s to not do it at all!

So often I am told, “Well Jonathan, I don’t have the gift of evangelism so I am not called to share” my response is, “Well, just because you don’t have the gift of mercy doesn’t mean you have to be a jerk!” It doesn’t matter whether we are an extrovert or an introvert, we will all do great. We cannot fake passion.

We’ve been caught in the hurricane of lie of witnessing for Jesus. “It’s just not our culture” You see, culture eats strategy for breakfast. We can come up with all sorts of excuses not to do whether you have it figured out or have some sort of, “program” or “strategy”. Anything Worth Doing is Worth Doing Badly. One of my favorite quotes is from G. K. Chesterton, a Christian philosopher who argued that most of what must be done to make the world go ’round is done by the average Joe who does not do it perfectly–or sometimes even well. God wants to use ordinary people such as you and I.

I’ve seen too many people who’ve used excuses not to share the gospel. We can use depression as an excuse or instead, we can use it as a tool! We are all broken and go for it! God can use a donkey and a rock to proclaim, so why not?

Jesus didn’t just come to make bad people good, but dead people alive. He is coming back, we got to teach this everyday and make it our great priority to the Great Commission.

Men despise religion. They hate it and are afraid it may be true. The cure for this is first to show that religion is not contrary to reason, but worthy of reverence and respect. Next make it attractive, make good men wish it were true, and then show that it is. They really despise it and don’t want it to be true—yet fear it may be true.

No more excuses. Let’s go share the gospel with people in a way that even though they don’t believe in it, they wish it was true. Let’s get busy.

  1. You actually make it appear so easy with your presentation however I find this topic to be actually something which I believe I might never understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely huge for me. I’m taking a look forward in your subsequent post, I will try to get the cling of it!
