Hard to believe how two weeks have gone by in the beautiful country of Japan. We are so grateful for everyone’s prayers and financial support. This trip would not have been possible without you. As many of you know, Japan is still one the most unreached nations in the world with only 0.3% of Japanese people who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Asia Pacific Biblical Counseling Conference
With the wonderful partnership with Reigning Grace Counseling Center, I often do training and teaching by equipping church leaders in biblical counseling. It was a very busy week, arriving at the airport at 5:00 a.m. On Tuesday morning on Reformation Day October 31st, we burned the midnight oil and worked on the messages, as we arrived at Tokyo Haneda airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Words seem not sufficient to reflect on the biblical counseling training from OIC. God was glorified! I talk about how the weekend training Asia Pacific Biblical Counseling Conference impacted hundreds of people in the country of Japan. It was truly a sweet time of fellowship, worship, and teaching with these brothers and sisters!
Asia Pacific Biblical Counselors Conference was held the evening of Thurs, Nov 2 through Sat, Nov 4, 2023. Your partnership with us in prayer has been deeply appreciated. The conference’s main topic was “The Sufficiency of Scripture in Counseling.”
There were thirteen speakers Dr. Steve Viars, Dr. Stuart Scott, Dr. Jenn Chen, Dr. Charles Hodge, Dr. Andrew Rogers, Dr. Julie Ganschow, Dr. Tom Sugimura, Dr. Joe Miller… etc collectively taught seven plenary sessions and twenty-four breakouts.
By God’s wonderful provision, the conference came together beautifully. I am beyond humbled by the opportunity for partnership and the privilege of ministering with the whole counsel of God’s Word during this conference.
This is just a glimpse of what happened at Tokyo Baptist Church for a three-day conference. By the final count of this event, there were over 400 attendees which is an incredible reach beyond the country of Japan. Once again, honored to be able to serve at this inaugural conference.
We are so thankful for the time spent with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Japan. A massive thank you to our brothers and sisters in Christ from Tokyo and in fact, all around the world!
Partnership through IMB with Local Churches and Pastors
On Sunday, it was such a joy to preach at Bread of Life Church in Waseda, Tokyo titled, “Peace in Worry” from Philippians 4:6-7 both English and Japanese.
Encouraged to see how God is strengthening churches all across the nation even in the country of Japan. Soli Deo Gloria!
Then we had our wonderful partnership with the International Mission Board where we are training pastors and ministry leaders from the Tokyo area. We were so encouraged to see and hear the students engaging with the teaching and asking great questions.
I do love this beautiful country of Japan. We spent a day in Takasaki city in Gunma prefecture partnering with Little Light Church for a 4-hour seminar training. We then headed to Kanazawa in Ishikawa prefecture for the next conference.

The last several days, we had a great time teaching module 4 CLT of the biblical counseling curriculum with OIC at Uchinada Bible Church. This was the final picture of the OIC graduation class finishing the entire four-lecture seminar in Uchinada, Japan
Indeed, what an incredible two weeks it was teaching and serving pastors, missionaries, and church leaders offering training conferences and seminars for biblical counseling in the country of Japan.
I think of the vision in heaven, “Every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (Rev 7:9).
God is doing incredible things in this great nation. Please continue to lift them in prayer and support for the kingdom! Blessed beyond measure. Praise, glory, and honor be to King Jesus. May the Lord continue to strengthen and grow His church in this area!
